The Izaak Walton League held a successful trap shoot Sunday September 8 their season opener. Winners in the third event included Fred Schmidt Dale Luther Don Steven Bob Harrson George DeRuyter Ed Henrichs Brick Weinderfeller and Frank Clark led with two events. The miss and out event went to Brick Weindenfeller Leonard Harrison K Rommes and Leonard Harrison won the quail shoot. A top shoot is planned for Sunday afternoon September 22 with a work afternoon on Saturday September 14 at 1 p.m. at the grounds, the final work event of the season.

Gordon Vance of Bemidji Minnesota and Keith Rohlfs, now living in New Hampton, were stopped by Le Mars police Saturday evening and fined 441 for speeding plus 9 for improper mufflers. They were driving abreast on Dental Ave heading north when cited.

Incumbent state board of public instruction members were re elected in three elections Friday with no opposition. Lester C. Peter D Lund dies at 91 in Fresno California
Peter D Lund of Fresno California died at his home on Friday September 6 at age 91. He was born in Denmark in 1866 and emigrated to the United States in 1882. He farmed in Clay County South Dakota and held township and county offices until 1936 before moving to California with his wife Alida Wold Lund. Surviving are seven children, many grandchildren, and Elmer of Le Mus. He and Mrs. Lund had lived in Fresno since 1936.
