Greenspan urged murder of McCarthy in Nevada case

Herman Greenspan faced a federal charge in Carson City Nevada after urging violence against Senator McCarthy in a Las Vegas Morning Sun column. Judge John R. Roos put the case on hold, with Greenspan arguing the aim was character assassination and not incitement to murder.

Cartographer Borchers to Join Forest Service in Virginia

Raymond V. Borchers of Le Mars Iowa returns from Japan in June 1954 after topography and geodetic computation training. He served with the 64th Large Topographic Battalion near Tokyo performing geodetic surveying and taught compilation. He was selected by the USDA Forest Service for a cartographer post in Alexandria Virginia reporting September 13. Borchers, a 1952 Iowa State College graduate, will begin duty in War Etinia.

Death of Albert W. Pape in Minneapolis hospital

Albert W. Pape 7, of Hanes Minn former Sioux City area resident died Friday at a Minneapolis hospital after a long illness. Born September 17 1896 near Hinton he attended Hinton schools and Le Mars High School. He worked as an interior decorator and moved to Hines in 1951. A World War I Marine veteran he was a member of the Hinton American Legion post. Survived by three sisters Cila Tresler Carne Jauer both of Sioux City and Grace Dunman of Red Wing Minn. Funeral arrangements are handled by Heaton Westcott funeral home in Lux City.

Tallest Hollyhock claimed by local grower Herman Haage

Navy Bomber Delivers Polio Victim To Veterans Hospital

A Linola Mob naval reserve crewed patrol bomber landed at Des Moines after a mercy flight from Sioux City carrying Maurice Weevil, 22, of Hinton, a Korean War veteran under polio treatment. He was moved to the veterans hospital in Des Moines for care. The transfer was arranged by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Small Boy Drowned In Farm Pond

A boy Kroutlctie Brountie aged about six drowned Friday evening after sliding into a farm pond while his mother tended tomatoes. Tragedy as 12 Year Old Crushed in Tractor Accident

A 12 year old boy, Robert Schindel, was killed when a tractor overturned on a country road near Melbourne Church, Plymouth County. The International tractor pinned him beneath after leaving the Ronald Schindel farm at 7:30 am. Coroner says crushed chest caused instant death. body sent to Le Mars funeral home.
