Julliette Langel Dies After Spill

Miss Julliette Langel daughter of Joseph Langel of Le Mars died Saturday October 13 at Memorial hospital Belle Fourche South Dakota after a car accident near there. She suffered head and spine injuries when the car she rode in went out of control en route to Darvey Montana. Funeral services were set for October 17 at St Josephs Catholic Church Le Mars with burial in Calvary cemetery. Survivors include her father seven sisters and a brother. Dorothy Ann Langel of Sioux Falls was the driver.

Tour of soil and water conservation projects in Iowa

Members of the State Soil Conservation Committee led by Kenneth Wagner and the Iowa State Natural Resources Council headed by Garland Hershey conducted a joint tour on Tuesday October 9. The group visited Nassau Pilot Watershed south of Orange City and Upper Pilot Watershed east of Le Mars. They discussed local challenges in applying the overall plan and inspected the Little Sioux River, Fee Watershed near Quimby, and Anthon Watersheds in Woodbury county. They noted progress and plan to assess solutions to improve general acceptance of conservation methods.

Car Crash Near Seney Causes Minor Injuries

Accident occurs when Elmer Lund driving a 1958 Plymouth is rear ended by Herman Peake of Omaha while turning left at Seney. Lund escapes serious injury as his car overturns into a ditch and sustains heavy damage. Peake's vehicle also suffers front left damage. Iowa Highway Patrol investigates.

Seven Courses At Le Mars Evening School 1956

The Le Mars public schools open the 1956-57 Community Adult Evening School on November 5 offering seven courses mainly in commercial vocational and crafts areas. Courses include typewriting bookkeeping sewing tailoring welding safe driving and piano with safe driving and welding priced higher. Registration is set for October 29 at Central School with instructors named and brochures being prepared for distribution. Plymouth County cattle feeders plan to attend the 38th Annual Cattle Feeder's Day at Iowa State College on Wednesday October 17. The program runs 9 30 a m to 4 pm at the new beef nutrition farm three miles northwest of the campus with experiments on stilbestrol use in cattle and silage studies. 4-H Officers Training Held September 29

The 4-H officers training school met at the Le Mars fairgrounds on September 29 to acquaint local 4-H officers with duties. Norman Kneip opened the meeting as president, Rae Becker welcomed, and Mary Ann Radloff led group singing. County staff led officer training and a model meeting followed before adjournment.

An enthusiastic crowd estimated at 2000 attended the first Annual Harvest of Harmony program last Saturday. The Hashese Four quartet delivered a show stopping set as the two hour affair ran 100 minutes late due to the crowd’s energy and planning. Funeral held for Mrs Flare Wuerth of Dell Rapids

Mrs E Wuerth Mro and Mrs Don Satvvmann with families from Hin ton Mroo Sioux, Cin, Oma and Le Mars attended the funeral of Mrs Flare Wuerth of Dell Rapers South Dakota on Monday. She died Friday October 16 after years of cancer. A former Le Mars resident, she left in 1921. Survived by two daughters Caral Tean and Mary, four brothers William Strub of Dell Rapids, and sister Mrs Arnold Sizmann of Le Mars.

Mrs Wearmouth dies after long illness near Kingsley

Mrs Wearmouth 70 of a farm eight miles northwest of Kingsley died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Born July 7 1884 in Washington county Iowa she lived in Sioux City formerly where her husband worked as a press messenger for the Railway News Agency. Survivors include her widower Harry a son and a daughter in Sioux City and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Dickison funeral home in Kingsley with Rev C V Pence of the Church of Christ Pierson officiating. Burial was in Kingsley cemetery.

Mrs Donald Johnson of Long Beach California daughter of Mr and Mrs Dick Roberts of Le Mars died Sunday October 14 after a short illness. She was born May 2 1916 in Le Mars and attended Central High School. She married Don Johnson May 12 1934 in Le Mars. Funeral plans are incomplete and burial will be in Long Beach. Survivors include her husband three children Mrs Thomas Greer of Long Beach and two sons James Donald and Douglas at home. Also her parents and a brother Jack of Le Mars. She was preceded in death by a sister Kathryn.
