John Banford obituary notes Le Mars resident dies at 85
John Banford of Le Mars died Friday October 1 1954 at Sacred Heart hospital after a three month illness. Born September 21 1869 in Fife Mile Town Cavanclech Ireland he immigrated young and worked as a cattle buyer. Milftent Carley and John Banford wed June WY 1919 in Laxcelleshior Springs Missouri. Funeral services were held October 4 at Lukens funeral home with Rev Bartz officiating. burial in the cemetery. Survivors include his wife Millicent a daughter Esther Jewell a sister Annie Banford a brother Harry and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents two brothers and two sisters.

Newly Hired Carpenter Falls 105 Feet to Death at Elevator
Marvin Richards, 28, of Hinton, employed by Tillitson Construction of Omaha, died after falling 105 feet from a scaffold inside the nearly finished Farmer's Elevator Co structure in Hinton. Coroner Dr. Thomas J. Cobden ruled multiple fractures of the left side from the fall. Richards, who had been hired Tuesday, died after being transported to a Sioux City hospital. He was divorced from Shirley Richards in Woodbury County in 1954.
