Three Deer Killed Near Hinton and Merrill

The sheriff reports a third deer killed in a week near Hinton. A 1959 Plymouth station wagon driven by Mrs. Donald Beitelspacher struck a large buck on highway 75, causing $100 damage to the right front. Earlier, two large does were hit by Arnold Susemihl near Merrill, with carcasses sent to Le Mars. Authorities note deer movement due to hunting season and gunfire.

Remsen Recognition Banquet dates and plans updated

Eva Lund reports the annual Girls 4-H Recognition Banquet will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the Remsen Municipal building, using original plans after a November 14 postponement due to severe weather. Nearly 300 4-H members and leaders are expected, with Christmas plan advice and time management tips for homemakers included. Miss Burkhard Breaks Hip After Ice Slip

Miss Anna Burkhard longtime employee of the B and B Store suffered a fractured hip from a fall on ice near the Niels Mortensen residence at 103 3rd Avenue Northwest Tuesday morning while walking home from a grocery trip. Lawrence Wilde and his daughter Mrs Clifford Eggebraaten of Maynard Minnesota helped, and she was taken to Sacred Heart hospital.

Charles Semke of Westmar College psychology staff spoke on The Big Lie and the use of alcoholic beverages at a Sunday program at Calvary EUB Church on November 22. A discussion period followed with group reports. Mr Lemke did special work with alcohol problems at Massachusetts General Hospital and with juvenile delinquents including an alcoholic. Mr and Mrs Fred Utech and Miss Lena Gross were guests of Mr and Mrs Joe Zweifel in Beresford SD on Sunday.

Fall Wedding of Kathleen Farmer and Alwayne Oetken

Golden Eagle Catches Barn Cat In Merrill Field

Dean Hurd, a young farmer southwest of Merrill, Wisconsin, trapped a large golden eagle in his Mis Helmer Olund farm cornfield last Friday. The bird appeared cold and half starved and was fed before authorities arrived. It reportedly ate a small farm cat. Game warden Crene Newell will transport the eagle to the state conservation commission for disposition. the bird will be released the same day.
