Le Mars Community Schools Board members Norman Barker Clarence Hagen Gordon Brodie Ethel Mayer Sylvia Schneider and others travel to Des Moines for the Iowa Association of School Boards convention at Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Principal Kissinger accompanies Superintendent Archambault. The group will hear talks on board duties view educational materials and tour three school buildings as part of plans to select an architect for a new building program. A citizens committee will be formed after architect selection to help determine facilities.

Funeral Services for Herman Schilmoeller in Granville

Funeral services for Herman Schilmoeller 95 prominent Granville farmer will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church Granville with burial in the parish cemetery. Archie Buys Penne House at Public Auction in Le Mars

Archie Jackson of Le Mars purchased the Adeline and Donald Penne house at 335 3rd Ave. N. W. after a public auction held on Tuesday. The sale price reached $4,060 with Richards and Ruden acting as auctioneers.

Police Court: Sioux City trio fined for carrying assembled guns

In mayor's court on Monday, Robert Youngstron Arnold Lilly and Gary Wauheb all of Sioux City were fined 14 dollars each for carrying an assembled gun in a vehicle. Ray Weidert of Sioux City was fined 19 dollars for carrying a loaded and assembled gun in a vehicle. Phyllis Rush of Merrill was fined 15 dollars for an ad operator's license violation. Joe Gaffey of Le Mars was fined 14 dollars for carrying an assembled gun in the car.

Vermillion Proposes Parking Tax Rejected by Voters

Marriage licenses issued this week to Ruben H Turner Akron Ruth Elizabeth Kehrberg Merrill and John Rodeen Le Mars Arlene Peters Manzanola Colorado. Vermillion South Dakota residents rejected a municipal parking tax contract after a referendum vote. City administration narrowly escaped criticism for the misstep. Two Car Collision and Train Truck Accident Report

A 9 am Tuesday snowbound intersection crash on 3rd Avenue and 6th Street Southeast involved a westbound 1958 Pontiac driven by Mrs L C O Toole and a 1956 Ford driven by Kenneth Rommel with $350 damage to the Rommel vehicle and $150 to the O Toole vehicle. Sloos Brothers towed the Kommes car to Glen Dimmick Hawarden shop. A semi truck driver escaped serious injury when his truck was struck by a Milwaukee railroad passenger train at a Hawarden crossing Monday, leaping to the floor and sustaining a head cut and bruises.

Kehrberg Turner Nuptials Held at Merrill Home

Ruth Kehrberp and Reuben Turner wed Tuesday afternoon November 17 at the Merrill home. The bride, former Ruth Willestad, daughter of Andrew Hilestad and the late Mrs. Marie Hillestad of Everett Washington, taught in Sioux City, studied at the University of Minnesota and the University of California. The groom, son of Mrs. William Turner and the late William Turner of Moville Iowa, graduated Moville High School and attended Wayne State Teachers College. The ceremony was by Reverend Gale Hawkee in the presence of immediate family. They will live near Merrill after a southern wedding trip.

Power Failure Won’t Hurt Phones in Worthington

An explosion at Worthington Minnesota power plant put the city in darkness and silenced phone lines. Le Mars claims an emergency generator can power phones and light the exchange building, with storage batteries and a weekly tested gasoline engine to handle load.
