Veterans Day Observed in LeMars with ceremonies
LeMars marked its first Veterans Day under a new national holiday law with ceremonies at the high school auditorium. About 800 attendees heard music by the student bands and a keynote address by Attorney Archie Nelson of Cherokee. The program, broadcast on KLEM, included a moment of silence at 11:00 and remarks on peace and readiness to defend the nation. Also noted were local housing plans and the enlistment of William Fidelis Puetz Jr. in the United States Air Force with training at Lackland AFB.
