Kingsley Fire Department Opens Fireman Training School
Former Le Mars residents Joan and Jean Willw of Siena Caty were weekend guests in the home of Mr and Mrs John Alexch. The Kingsley fire department announced the opening of a fireman training school to be held in Kingsley. It will be conducted by James Peterson engineering extension instructor at Iowa State College Ames. Courses cover chemistry of fire first aid extinguishment pump operations fire fighting tactics inspections and special problems facing the local department. Classes meet Thursday evenings November 15 23 29 and December 6 from 7 30 p.m. Three hours per session.

Republicans set up near Oliver Welding on Central Ave and Democrats occupy former Remer Oil office 15 blocks away. Both offer free rides to polls and Democrats plan an all night election party. County auditor also stays open all night by law. Voter precincts center around Second Ave. to courthouse with Precinct 314 covering Westward routes.

Elmer K. Bekman of Wapello County sends a March 1949 letter to Fellow Ouumwans refuting a whispering campaign aimed at Herschel C. Loveless as a former Parking Tax racketeer.
