Storm winds caused outages in Hinton Thursday night with repairs by 8 30. Merrill and James farm line disruptions fixed by Friday morning. Alton reports higher damage from wind. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freking Sr., is a LeMars St. Joseph's High School graduate, now a farmer. The couple planned to rest on their farm near LeMars after a weeklong wedding trip.

Pheasant Crashes Windshield Near Hospers

Mrs. Joe Verschoor of Hospers was badly cut when a pheasant shattered the car windshield about three miles north of Hospers on a Sunday evening. She was taken to a Sheldon hospital for glass splinter removal and several teeth damaged but later released. Mr. Verschoor and the children escaped injury though were splattered with blood from the bird.

New Corn Planting Method Demonstrated at Local Farm

Elmer J. Lund announces a new tillage method to prepare land and plant corn in one operation. Demonstrations will be at George Bindner farm near Le Mars on May 17 at 2 00 PM and May 18 at 10 00 AM. Two young ministers with Le Mars roots will speak at Le Mars High School seventy fifth commencement week events. Rev Harold H Becker of Wright Community Congregational Church Boise Idaho will deliver the commencement address at the municipal park amphitheater Friday June 1. Rev Raymond A Bjork of Adaville Evangelical United Brethren Church Johnson Township will give the baccalaureate sermon in the high school auditorium Sunday evening May 44. Becker, a 1936 Le Mars High School and 1945 Westar College graduate, studied at Biblical Seminary New York City and Eden Theological Seminary. Bjork, Westar College graduate 1945, hails from Illinois and is a pastor in Johnson Township. Becker has held multiple church roles and community leadership positions in Colorado and Englewood before moving to Idaho.

Rev Bjork Appointed Missionary to Kentucky Posts

The Rev Mio Bjork, a Westmar College graduate and Drake University student, was ordained in 1946 and has served as pastor in Evangelical United Brethren churches. He now moves to Kentucky as missionary for the General Board of Missions to organize and establish a community department in mission schools and serve as minister. Bjork, a talented musician, gave many concerts while a student and has two children in Mars High School. His baccalaureate sermon is titled What Does God Require. Le Mars public school officials announce Miss Josephine Winslow of Le Mars as Pageant Queen for the Diamond Jubilee production Through the Years to be staged May 22 and 23 at the high school auditorium. Winslow, a 1903 graduate, has long ties to the community and to the Clark School. Coronation will occur at the start with Gene Ohih, class of 1956 president, crowning her.
