Liberty seniors take Skip Day to Lincoln and Omaha

Liberty seniors from Liberty Consolidated School joined Mr and Mrs Buesley for a day trip visiting the Nebraska State Prison and University of Nebraska campus in Lincoln. They then went to Boy's Town and Omaha for dinner, returning via Council Bluffs Iowa. An open house dance in the school gym in May charges 2 per person with proceeds to the senior fund. Mr and Mrs Charles Lane and Kristine Rae of Sioux City spent the weekend with the Ray Hauser family in Struble before moving to Chicago OK.

A Census Bureau study shows Plymouth County cut local government units by 27 percent from 1951 to 1953, reducing the number of municipalities towns and school districts while adding special districts. Booster Trip Aids Drum Corps Dance Fund

Members of the Drum and Bugle Corps plan a booster VIP trip for a dance on May 31 at the Le Mars Armory. Legion Post members will meet at Legion Hall LyMirs at 6 p.m. Tuesday to solicit relief support. Remsen and Kingsley are to be visited first. Fo Nash, Sioux City Social Security field rep, will be at Le Mars Court House May 1] at 9:00 a.m. to assist filing benefit claims and discuss federal old-age and survivors insurance. He will stay at least one hour after the appointment.

Union Marion Farm Bureau Ladies Meeting Notes

The Union Marion Farm Bureau ladies met on April 29 at Mrs Roddy Eyres home with co host Mrs David Hamilton. Mrs Clarence Singer called the meeting to order and minutes of the previous meeting were read followed by a business discussion. Mrs Gordon Sickex gave a lesson on Use and Care of New Fabrics and the session adjourned. A lunch was served by the hostesses.

Visits Mother Indiana State Trooper Cantrell

Indiana State Trooper Edward J. Cantrell, son of Rev and Mrs Gla Cantrell, traveled from Indianapolis to Le Mars to spend time with his mother at the Le Mars Church of the Nazarene. He served four years in the armed forces including two months in Germany and studied at multiple colleges. The weatherman noted 85 degrees in Indianapolis, yet he arrived home to a snowstorm.
