Liberty Township to vote on Le Mars district reorganization

County superintendent Christine McCormick says voters in Liberty township may vote on the Le Mars Merrill district reorganization even if they are in the Hinton community district. The election is set for Monday April 6 1959 from noon to 7 pm with polling places listed across Merrill Liberty Brunsville Craig Seney Struble West Le Mars and several Elgin voting sites.

Huffman Family Marks Third Consecutive March 18 Birth

Mrs Jeanette Huffman of Terre Haute along with Everett Huffman welcomed a baby boy on March 18 1959 at Anthony Hospital weighing 5 pounds 3 ounces. This followed March 18 1958 when a son Brian Scou Huffman was born and March 18 1957 a daughter Carol Ann. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Peter DeBlauw of Le Mars Nebraska.

Bertha Kleihauer Dies at 88. Akron Resident

Funeral services for Mrs Bertha Marauretha Kleihauer will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 pm Monday with Rev Luther Meyer officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery under Rossow Funeral Home. Survived by two daughters Mrs Alfred Meskie and Mrs Paul Meskie, two sons Henry and George, all of Akron, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Born April 4, 1870 aboard a ship to the United States from Germany.

Bagenstos and Van Maasdam Injured in Le Mars Car Crash

A one car collision occurred Friday at 15 am when a 1953 Ford driven by Stanley Bagenstos of Le Mars veered onto railroad tracks after being blinded by a oncoming car. He and passenger Don Van Maasdam sustained cuts and bruises. Le Mars police investigated.

Collision near Stand Ind Ave S injures two drivers

An accident at 7:50 a.m. today near the intersection of Stand Ind Ave S and ishead westbound traffic involved Harold Biederman of Westmar College and Mrs. Biarlin Rubet of Le Mars. Verdorm Clarenge M Verdern 17 of North Sioux City SD was sentenced to one year in county jail for larceny of 100 value scrap iron taken February 5 1959 from a Hancock Township Plymouth County station leased by Gauvin Brothers. Verdorm had prior arrests and was released from the South Dakota state training school for boys at Plinkington. Sheriff Frank Scholes reported.

Bedell Makes Morningside Dean's Honor Roll

Bruce Bedell of Le Mars joins 124 students named to Morningside College Dean's Honor Roll in Sioux City. Seventy-nine out of town residents, 45 Sioux Cityans, and more women than men top the list. Freshmen lead with 35 names, followed by 32 sophomores, 31 seniors, and 26 juniors.
