Dutch Heigner's Brooder House Burns He Saved
Frank Dutch Heigner escaped a fire that destroyed his old brooder house on a Seventh Street Southwest lot. Dressed only in shirt and pants, he was sheltered by firefighters who also provided him warmth and clothing after the blaze, blamed on a furnace stove near dry wood. Fire officials said a nearby house is rented and not part of Heigner's dwelling. Also noted: N. F. Worth was appointed to supervise Cook Paint stores across nine locations in Northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, with Mason City among them.

Smith Sent to Fort Madison Penitentiary After Car Theft

Coroner H Laken concluded Herman Renken died accidentally when a tractor toppled into a ditch after slipping on soft gravel on a Grant township highway. Renken 43, lived in Grant township, Le Mars area, unmarried, with funeral held at Christ Lutheran Church.
