Le Mars clergy questioned Schweitzer’s view of Jesus divinity amid a planned showing of Albert Schweitzer The Jungle Doctor at Royal Theatre. Churches denied endorsement while the Royal Theatre sponsors the film and proceeds benefit local funds.
Dr. R. J. Meyler, chiropractor at 1314 Central Ave. N. W., was unable to work Thursday through Saturday due to a snow shoveling accident at his home. He slipped on wet snow and suffered a sprained back and has been confined to bed, with plans to return Monday.
Virgil Wahlman of Mulford appointed manager of the Le Mars Credit Bureau office, a Northwest Iowa bureau branch headquartered in Spencer. Leonard Deavers of Spencer owns the office, Wahlman will stay in Mrford with his family through the school season. The office occupies rooms on the second floor of the First National Bank Building formerly used by Irma Witt, lawyer.
Donald Jay Peters infant son of Rev. Elvin E. Peters and Mrs. Peters of Stanton township died after birth on March 8 at Sacred Heart hospital. Graveside rites were conducted March 9 at Stanton cemetery by Rev. C. W. Dehner. Survivors include parents two sisters Eunice Charlotte and Juanita and a brother Robert. His mother was Elsa Schroeder.
The Farmer's Mutual Coop creamery in Sioux Center announces it will resume purchasing whole milk in cans. Farmers resist tank installations for direct pump pickup, causing some to sell dairy cows. An ad includes a coupon to gauge needed crews and arrangements, urging quick action before postage increases.
The Nelle Lumber Co. arranged to buy ground from Mrs. Jack Schultz east of the new school auditorium between First Ave. S. W. and Central Ave. The firm will build six new homes after recently completing three. Two are sold. the third should be ready for occupancy in April.

A welcome home gathering for Le Roy Borchers was held at Mr. and Mrs. Fred Borchers home on a Tuesday evening in March. Friends and family listed attended after his almost nine weeks in hospital with hopes for a quick recovery. A cake reading Welcome Home LeRoy was served along with a lunch while guests socialized.
Carl Benson 70 retired farmer died at a Cherokee hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Evangelical church with Rev Delpho Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Amherst cemetery. Born April 16 1888 in Sweden he came to the United States at 18 and lived much of his life near Marcus. Surviving include a sister Mrs Alfreda Bengston Sweden two brothers Ernest Aurelia and Werner Marcus and several nieces and nephews.
Paul Dandurand son of Emil and Mrs Dandurand of Le Mars is among 152 candidates at Fort Leavenworth for the March 11 physical and menial exams for entry to the United States Military Academy. Twenty two Iowa applicants are in the group. While there, they will be billeted in the First Guard Company. Examinations are sent to West Point for grading and candidates are notified later.

Ray Nacke resigns as Granville Saint Joseph High School athletics coach after three years. His basketball squad posted a 46 win to 5 loss record. Nacke, a 1958 Westmar graduate in industrial arts, plans to stay in coaching.
Mr and Mrs Ray Hanno announce the marriage of their daughter June Marlene to Willard F Chandler Jr son of Mr and Mrs A J Kusian of Moville Iowa on Sunday February 22 in Minden Nevada. The couple reside in Sacramento California where she works at Sutter Hospital and he will study dentistry in the fall.
Accident at the Tad Street NW corner at 4:15 pm Monday involved Henry Schlesser Maurice and Carl Miller all of Des Moines. Both cars were southbound when Schlesser turning left into the center lane caused the collision with a 1959 Chevrolet driven by the Des Moines man. Schlesser’s 1954 Chevrolet sustained no damage while the right front of the Des Moines driver’s car was damaged.
The Westmar W club hosts a Saturday carnival in the gym starting at fan. Four class representatives will compete for queen: Jolune Bakley Ogden IA freshman Beverly Krueger Wheatland NC sophomore Artene Peters Manzinoli CO junior and Lani Jamih Marshalltown IA senior. Events include pie cutting contest cakewalk and side show by Jaggs from Te Mary. prizes include electric alarm clock flash camera gallon picnic thermos jug and more. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Mrs. Kimer Bonnema, about 70, mother of three, was critically burned at 9 am when she poured kerosene on a coal fire in the basement at Bonnema farm two miles west of Ireton. Husband carried her to Stowe Center hospital as fire charred the house. three children were in a nearby room. Fire departments and neighbors aided. owner Peter Bonnema resides in Stour Center. Insurance amount unknown.
A mass meeting for World War I veterans and spouses from Plymouth Cherokee and Woodbury Counties is set for Wednesday March 11 1959 at 8 p.m. at the Glen Club Hall Le Mars Iowa. Plymouth County Commander Harald Mullard says the goal is to plan support for a bill before Congress offering an age 60 100 monthly pension to honorably discharged WWI veterans with 90 days or more service. The Veterans of World War 1 USA backs HR OHRE introduced by Representative James F Vanzari of Penns, a former National Commander of the VFLW. Attending will be Clarence W Johnson Iowa Department Junior Vice Commander Council Bluffs Iowa, who notes veterans have long sought security in old age. Johnson recently spoke at the National WWI Legislative meeting in Washington DC and discussed the issue with lawmakers.
Miss Irelon Spental and Mr Mungelson of Huron South Dakota announce their engagement. The couple plans a winter wedding at the Darel GP Raanhormstoof Brookings venue in South Dakota. The bride is a student at the South Darkhole Stile College in Brookings.

Four Le Mars girls were capped as nurses in a Sunday ceremony at St Josephs Parish Center in Sioux City. Miss Mary Ann Masuen Donna Rae Cockrell Joan Donna Donlin and Margy Lee Treinen completed months of training with their families present for the event.
The record lists Theodore Thoma cited for failure to guid with a $7.50 fine. Harvey Lesseman of Minneapolis charged with intoxication on a public highway fined $29. Byron McCauley of Alta fined $12 for no valid chauffeur license. Rodney Klave fined $12 for speeding. State cases include R. K. Cutler and Harry J. Schmidt each fined $14 for excessive night speed.
