Mrs Loula Palmer Dies After Brief Illness In Sioux City

Mrs Loula Palmer sister of Mrs Annie McCormick of Le Mars passed away in a Sioux City hospital while visiting her daughter Mrs M J Dover. She was 72 and had been visiting her son in law and daughter when she became severely sick. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 30 p m at the Heaton funeral home in Sioux City with Rev Charles E Mason officiating. She leaves five daughters two sons four step daughters two brothers twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Retired Cowhand To Ride Range Again

Jon Goebel plans to reenter cattle work with help from George Blair a 67 year old former cowboy living west of Le Mars Blair owns a skilled black stallion and can rope steers alone after lariats are placed around necks for each steer Goebel expects the task to be manageable with Blair's experience and the horse's training to handle the roundup.

A miscellaneous shower for the bride elect and her groom to be was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Ahrendsen on Saturday night. About 50 guests attended with cards and social visiting as the main pastime. The bride elect received household gifts while the groom to be was given a shower of tack. A late lunch was served by the hostesses Mrs. Pete Huls, Mrs. John Ahrendsen, and Mr. Henry Hubs.

The 33rd Infantry, Iowa National Guard unit in Le Mars was notified by Headquarters Fifth Army Chicago that Company K received an excellent rating in a January 6 1953 Federal Inspection. Seven bids ranged from 248346 to 274478 for the Sidud Center public school general building contract. The Sioux Center News says the bids for proposed changes and additions were rejected Thursday morning. Architect Harold Spitznagel of Sioux Falls was asked to seek cost reductions before re-bidding. Fullbright Envoy To Bavaria From Colorado University

Camilla Jewell Fullbright is named envoy to Bavaria under the Fullbright program. One of five Colorado students chosen to study in Erlangen and Nurnberg area, she will study German language literature drama history and music from November 1953 to July 1954 with all expenses paid.
