Albert Wiltgen of Le Mars, owner of Wiltgen Ready Mixed Concrete Co., announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for state senator to oppose incumbent Laurence D. Boothby. Wiltgen, 40 years Air Corps veteran now a major in the air reserve, lives with his wife and five children on Sixth Street N. E. His senatorial district would include Plymouth Ida and Cherokee counties. He cited Northwest Iowa’s tax treatment and noted his plant expands to serve a 50 mile radius with pre cast concrete products.

Donald Franklin Trumbo, a field man for the Plymouth County Farm Bureau, died suddenly at home on March 4 1956 at 136 6th Ave SW Le Mars. Born July 23 1909 in Keota Colorado he previously lived in Oakland Iowa and Atlanta. He married Helen Mlero on July 23 1935 in Clarinda Iowa. Funeral services set for March 6 1956 at 2 00 pm at Bedford Methodist church with burial in Fairview Cemetery under Mauer Funeral Home Le Mars. Survived by wife Helen two daughters Sheryl and Carole, brother Vern Trumbo, sister Mrs Kitty Seekman, parents Frank and Tianka Trumbo. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church and a veteran of Foreign Wars. The Plymouth County Farm Bureau Institute, canceled due to his death, and Plymouth county car registrations for February 1986 noted 47 new cars and 10 new trucks.
