Bur Oak Nominated as Iowa State Tree by Legislature
A bur oak also known as mossy cup oak, nominated as official state tree of Iowa after the Iowa House approved the measure 100 to 4. The Senate Judiciary 2 committee now reviews the proposal. The Plant Iowa Committee, representing about three dozen Iowa events, chose the tree, tracing its name to the mossy tint on its acorn cup.
