Funeral for Duane Calkins Delayed by Fire Incident
Duane Calkins died after a three week sickness from a heart condition at a Iowa City hospital. He was born May 1946 in Le Mars and was a third grade student at Gehlen School. Funeral services were held at St James Catholic Church on Monday June 28. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery with Wittgen Luedike Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his parents Mr and Mrs Vero Calkins five brothers David Jack Dean Perry Tommy and two sisters Sandra and Nancy. Grandparents Celia Vandershield and WLR Garr of Le Mars. Rosary was held Sunday at the funeral home. The text also notes a fire incident connected to the service location.
