A road northeast of Hinton was dynamited during high Floyd River floods to ease damage. The act aimed to raise the grade and redirect floodwater, sparking debate over responsibility and legality. Officials later deemed the move satisfactory, with the contractor to cover flood-related repairs.

Henry Frahm collapsed last night at a Central avenue business place where he had been having a free lunch. An ambulance took him to a hospital where he was described as pretty good this morning and expected to be sent home today. Nin and Theodore Love left for Dubuque for a three day State Convention of the Fraternal Order of Tales with Love as state trustee and Mrs. Tose as a delegate to the state auxiliary meeting.
Le Mars four bow Woodcraft Club members under 16 joined 21 peers from Sunilay clubs at Camp Dodge June 14 17 coached by adult supervisor Maurice Tolman. Activities included swimming volleyball softball archery rifle marksman ship fly casting bat casting and general conservation talks.
Michael F Foley 74 a former plumber died Monday at Akron community hospital after a two month illness. Born December 3 1879 in Maurice Louisiana he lived in Akron 30 years. Survived by sister Elizabeth Welch Westfield LA and brother James Mankato MN plus several nieces and nephews. Rosary recited 8 pm Wednesday at Foley home. Funeral at St Patrick church Thursday 9 am with Kesto C Shaytutl in charge. Burial at St Patrick's cemetery. Rossow funeral home in charge.
Mr and Mrs Joe Duster and daughters Katherine and Margar ete attended the wedding of Katherine Ann Duster to Mr Robert Enos of Ft Pierce. The ceremony at Immaculate Conception church followed by a noon reception for 300 at Cresswood Country Club. The couple will reside in Ft Pierce where Enos is a newspaper editor. A note on health discusses evidence linking smoking to cancer and heart disease. A New York tobacco shop, Wally Frank's, offers a line of ladies pipes and a pipe tobacco blend for women switching from cigarettes.
Paul and Gene Nuebel announce a full remodel converting Nuebel’s Grocery into a super service store with delivery and phone order options. The 7500 square foot space adds an island display, wall shelves, frozen sections, two front checkouts, ventilation, a large basement and upstairs storage, improving volume purchases for customers.

A divorce decree was filed in Plymouth County on Wednesday granting LaDonna Kramer an absolute divorce from Lusene Arthur Kramer. The judge ordered that neither party shall remarry for one year from the grant date. Most Le Mars stores joined for Judy Dollar Day sales yesterday, prompting The Globe Post to publish two sections. Stores reporting one of the year’s best business days noted hot bargains appreciated by the public.

The eight Le Mars beauties will parade for the last time Thursday June 24 at New Deal Park Amphitheater. Morse Heermenman will be master of ceremonies and Carl Schelin will speak. Rome Kovaleske will preside at the Hammond organ as Bob King of KVTV judges in formal wear and bathing suits. The winner will represent Le Mars at Okoboji June 27 for Miss Iowa.

Lloyd O Mauer a scion of a Plymouth Irish pioneer family spoke yesterday to calm a humorous dispute over the location of old city scales. He said both sides are right, noting the scales were once at the rear of the city building later sold to the Town Public Service Co. The item appears continued on page 3.

Dr Stanford J Welson opened a new veterinary office at 312 1st St NE Le Mars near Tony's Electric, with a World War II veteran founder who earned a DVM from University of Minnesota in 1993 and previously practiced with Dr W Brown in Storm Lake Iowa. He served in the 101st Airborne in Europe.
P O Department now accepts rent for lock boxes in three or more months in advance. I W Conway, postmaster, says this change helps patrons who prefer yearly prepaid rentals. The extended privilege lasts until July 1 each year, except for first-time renters who may cover from rental date to July 1.

Miss Charlene Mae De Boer married Demar LeRoy Kloster at the First Reformed Church in Alton on June 16 with yellow carnations gladioli and orange blooms as altar decorations. The ceremony featured Rev EE Van Englehoven, organist Ray Werda, and readings of Because and The Lord's Prayer. The reception followed at the Orange City town hall for 225 guests.
