The first ticket drawn belonged to J W Johnson of 212 2nd St N W in Le Mars and held 30 percent of the $150 prize but he wasn't present so he received $23 in merchandise coupons by mail. Gene Kennedy of Le Mars won the second ticket and was present to take $23. Secretary E W Rogers said remaining coupons must be cashed by July 6. The Globe Post earlier noted the drawing would be the last due to sponsor withdrawals reducing prize money and causing the chamber to stop the franchise. Some towns pursue homegrown plans to avoid franchise costs, though they lack official tickets and materials.

Mrs Alderman Dies at Army Hospital in Denver
Mrs Ann Averman wife of Chaplin Mayor Gob Alderman died Sunday June 23 at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver. She was born Le Mars November 6 1908 and was a member of the FOU BO church. Survived by husband stationed at the hospital a daughter Mrs Pat Bowers a sister Mrs Robert Lake and a brother Alfred Edwards all of Le Mars and grandchildren. Services were held at 2 30 Wednesday June 26 from the Post Chapel with Chaplain John J Rhea in charge. Burial was in the Fort Riley cemetery. Pallbearers were Rea Cross AB Valencia Lou Weins Elmer Ziegler Rev Charles E Cook and O L Grant.
