Paperhanger Kepner Escapes From Sacred Heart Hospital
Donald Edwin Kepner 24 of Onawa Iowa jailed on a bad check charge walked out of Sacred Heart hospital last night. Doctors reported a serious kidney condition and the hospital noted he had recent treatment in Nebraska. A social security card led to a forged check on Le Mars Savings Bank. Ronald Davis 22 of Onawa was arrested with Kepner after attempting the same ruse. Davis pleaded guilty to uttering a forged statement and was sent to the state reformatory with a suspended sentence.

A collision in the 3600 block of Floyd Avenue involved a car driven by 19 year old Robert G. Flaa of Sioux City and a 23 year old Marlin F. Johnson of Akron. Elaine Olsen, a passenger in Johnson’s car, fractured her right arm and cut her forehead and was listed in good condition at St. Joseph's hospital.

Frank Wells 72 Dies After Long Illness at Hawarden
Frank G. Wells age 72 of Treton died Thursday morning at Hawarden hospital after a long illness. Born December 25, 1888 he lived in Craig all his life. He married Alice McDougall January 5, 1915 at Le Mars. They farmed near Craig then moved to Ireton four years ago. Funeral Saturday June 22 at 1:30 pm at Satterlee Funeral Home and 2:00 pm at the Methodist church with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Survivors include his widow three daughters and four sons, plus two brothers and a sister and numerous relatives from Le Mars.

He was pulled from the burning vehicle before a gasoline tank exploded and is in critical condition with burns to 30 to 60 percent of his body.
