Permanent Injunction Is Pending In Le Mars Park Land Fight

The Globe-Post reports Judge R G Rodman signed a temporary injunction on Ed Stellingwerf v Le Mars park board over condemning 14.31 acres south of New Deal Park. Stellingwerf and attorney E P Murray argue the park board needs no more land as the city has five open parks and cites possible land donations to the federal government. They claim the case is a suit to deprive him of property without due process and the right to sell at his chosen price. Le Mars Chamber secretary E W Rogers says he doubts a permanent injunction will be granted and warns the ground loss could hinder the armory project’s passage through Washington channels.
