Lawrence Welk stars the Lennon sisters headline the Iowa State Fair musical revue August 23 to 28. Dianne Peggy Kathy and Janet ages 10 to 17 will perform songs from Allegheny Moon to Graduation Date and star in a two hour show with other radio TV and film names, a chorus and hippodrome.

Acreage Reserve Payments Will Be Made Soon

Plymouth county ASC announces 1957 soil bank acreage reserve payments will begin this week by mail. Payments go to farmers in order of compliance checks and completed agreements. First recipients include corn or wheat ahead of schedule with full compliance. Total possible payments exceed $1.18 million on 37,398 acres for corn and/or wheat. Wheat contracts total about $7,963 on 313 acres. Some payments may be reduced if participants fail to meet terms.

Reported near Presriburg a man named Robert Miller was killed in a large oil tank explosion while working on a street oiling project near Linden. Jon Coulter 8 notes flames and gasoline facts. he reportedly threw gasoline on a trash fire, causing heat damage to gas can frames though injuries were described as not serious.

ASC Ballots Mailed for Plymouth County ASC Elections
