Three Injured In Highway Collision Near Marcus
Three persons were seriously injured in a two-car crash on a highway one mile west of Marcus at 145 p.m. Friday January 8. Donald Taylor is from Route 2 Merrill was driving a 1951 Ford owned by Barry Motor Company of Danbury and collided with Carl William Dorr 82 Marcus who drove a 1953 Dodge with passenger Mrs Marie Miller 46 Marcus. Dorr was taken to Le Mars Hospital with cuts and bruises. Taylor had abrasions and bruises. Some stories and pictures appear today in Thursday’s edition.

Obituary for John Arnsdorff of Le Mars area
John Arnsdorff, 90, father of Job Arnsdorff of Le Mars, died last Monday after a two week illness at his home in the Stony City area. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heaton Westcott funeral home with Rev. Homer Watkins officiating. Burial was in Graceland park cemetery. Born April 3, 1863 near Mankato Minnesota, he married Bettha on December 29 188. She died in 1949. He retired from farming and was a member of the First Christian church. Survivors include three daughters Mrs George Merches of White Bear Lake Minnesota and Mrs Olga Bevec and Mrs Bertha Arnsdorff of Sioux City. three sons George of White Bear Lake John of St Paul and Robert of Le Mars. two sisters Mrs John Ginther of Mankato. two brothers Henry of Bird Island and Joe of Froid Montana. nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Akron man dies in two car crash on Highway 12
Joe Neary 64 of Akron was killed when his Chrysler rolled off Highway 12 two miles north of Akron around 7:30 p m Sunday. The car struck a telephone pole after the door jammed trapping his head and neck. Coroner Dr S W Luken noted the neck fracture and that rescue attempts released the body from the jammed door. Neary, formerly of Union County SD, lived around Akron and planned funeral services at St Marys Catholic Church Akron Tuesday January 20.

Douglas E. Miller, 18, of 72 Wall Street, pleaded guilty to four counts of operating a motor vehicle without consent and to not having a driver’s license. District Judge Ralph Crary sentenced him to a five day term at the Woodbury county jail and to continue in the boys reformatory at Eldora. Miller was arrested Thursday night in Riverside in a car owned by Kenneth Burket of Mars, police said. Miller has previously served two terms in the boys reformatory.
