Army Prefab Barracks Clash Shelters Draftees in New Jersey

Pfc Harold O Baack, son of Mr and Mrs W F Baack of Craig, is stationed at Fort Hancock New Jersey with an antiaircraft unit. The camp near Newark lacks prefabricated barracks due to AFL union threats prompting continued tent housing and muddy conditions. Baack, there since last spring, expects discharge February 21 after his service.

77 Attend First Session Leader School

Seventy seven people attended the first session of the Leadership Education School at Westmar College Monday evening. Eleven churches from seven denominations were represented from Le Mars and the surrounding area. Rev RK Clawson spoke at the Chapel service between classes. Courses enrolled included The Use of Visual in the Church, The Use of the Bible in Teaching, Planning a Vacation Church School, and Planning for the Nursery Child.

Le Mars High School 80-Piece Band to March Winter Concert

Le Mars high school's 80 piece concert band will perform its annual winter concert at the high school auditorium Monday evening January 1 at 730. Director Wayne B Gard invites all to attend free of charge as students teachers parents and friends gather for semester review and commemoration week. The program features His Honor Onward Christian Soldiers The King and I Overture La Comparsita and Stars and Stripes among works with soloist Terry Dianne and a roster of band members including Neumayer Kramer Koth Gene Koth and others.

Gene Autry Hit Slow of 1953 Comes to Sioux City

Gene Autry brings an all star one day only show to Sioux City Municipal Auditorium on January 7 with two performances at 2 30 pm and 8 pm. The western star promises wholesome family entertainment featuring Champion and Little Champ plus The Hoosier Hotshots Pat Buttram the Cass County Boys Johnny Bood Carl Conner Frankie Manin and the Melody Ranch Gang.

Danne and Friends in Local Concert Band Lineup

James Pratt dies at 64 a Kingsley farmer

James Pratt a 64 year old retired Kingsley farmer died Saturday at his home. Funeral services were at 2 30 p m Tuesday at the Methodist church in Kingless Rov with burial at Kingstes cemetery. Reverend Carl Riges of Moville assisted. Burial followed in Kingstes cemetery.
