Runaway Truck Wheel Destroys Sioux City Home
A heavy dual wheel from a Continental Baking Co truck detached near Merril and plowed through the wall of Mrs. Marcella Borchers house at 909 7th St, Sioux City. The wheel damaged the bed and struck walls, with occupants away at the time. Police investigated as residents managed repairs amid debris cleanup.

Jerry Delaney Killed In Sheldon Accident
Jerry Delaney age 29, a well known Sheldon businessman and former LeMars resident, died at Sheldon hospital from injuries in an accident about 1 3/4 miles west of Sheldon on Highway LB. He was towing a car from a ditch when another car driven by Marlin Vis, 19, of Boyden struck the tow truck. Vis was not seriously injured. Delaney operated the Sinclair station in Sheldon. Funeral services are pending.

Le Mars Boy Receives $30,000 Markie Grant
Dr. Thomas E. Starzl of Passavant hospital Chicago has been notified he will receive a $30,000 Markie grant. The surgeon, alumnus of Le Mars High School, plans to continue at Passavant, affiliated with Northwestern University. The university proposed his name and eight of twelve nominees were eliminated in a Colorado Springs interview.

Peck Hurt In Fall At Wells Dairy Addition
Louis Peck a 44 year old refrigeration man for Wells Dairy was injured Friday morning after falling about 15 feet from scaffolding onto a cement floor near the Wells office in Le Mars. An ambulance and doctor rushed him to Sacred Heart hospital where he remained semi conscious in shock with good condition noted and X rays planned.

Schools Dismissed Early In Le Mars Wednesday
On Wednesday February 25 Le Mars Schools will dismiss early for an improvement or instruction meeting with all teachers attending. Clark and Franklin students will leave at 3 08 p m. Rural parents are urged to note the early dismissal as buses depart about an hour earlier than usual and students will be home sooner. Plymouth County Board of Education met in special session to consider forming the Le Mars Community School District. Accident at Central Ave and Lincoln Street
At 2 45 p m Sunday a 1951 Nash driven by Johnny Urban and a car driven by Harold Heeren of Kingsley collided. Urban was southwest on Lincoln turning left on Central while Heeren went north on Central. Urban front end damaged his car and the other vehicle sustained right front damage.
