Sioux County Road Plan Expands to Ply mouth Line this Summer
Sioux County will upgrade the Remsen road two miles east of Alton to the Plymouth county line this summer. The five mile stretch will be widened to 100 feet right of way, graded, and traveled. Additional improvements include four miles from Highway 1% to Doon and ½ mile in Eagle township toward Hudson, plus six miles south from Hospers to Highway 10. Old Highway 10 east from the Alton viaduct becomes a county road. state highway signs remain during paving between Alton and Granville.

Lowell Schneider of Hinton died at Cherokee after two illnesses lasting one week. He passed February 13, 1954, age 48. Born June 3, 1906 in Plymouth County, son of Edwin and Henrietta Schneider. Survived by daughter Karen Kay and his mother. Funeral February 16 at Luken's in Le Mary at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Henry. burial in Melbourne Cemetery. Pallbearers named.

Le Mars High hosts an art exhibit this week featuring 150 fine prints copied from originals. Original works are housed in famous galleries. sponsors are the junior high student council. Wayne Brown from Liberty township has been hired as a full time insurance agent for the Iowa Farm Mutual in Plymouth county. He has long served on the county membership committee and as township membership captain. His rented farm sold and a sale is set for February 19. The Browns may move to Merrill or Hinton as he covers the southwest Plymouth area. This brings three full time and one part time Farm Mutual agents to Plymouth county.

Lang Alice Elnora Lang funeral held in Kemsen and Remsen
Alice Elnora Lang died January 25 at age 55 after a long illness. Funeral services were held January 28 at St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church in Kemsen and at White in the afternoon with interment in Remsen cemetery. She was born July 25 1898 northwest of Remsen and lived on farms near Remsen White and later in White. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church White Ladies Aid and White Star chapter Order of the Eastern Star for over 30 years. She is survived by siblings and relatives including Ralph and nieces Marian Kan sanback Dorothy Kracke Joan Nissen William and others. Burial arrangements were made by Mrs John P Schmidt and Mr Alfred Anderson.
