The Laux Dobson case continued in district court with Vernon Laux representing the plaintiff against Charles Frerichs and Larry Dobson. Jurors were named on Monday and evidence was presented Tuesday before Judge R G Rodman. Alternate juror Oscar Dorr of Remsen was chosen.

Post Office Closed On New Years Day In Le Mars

The Le Mars Post Office will be closed all day Friday January 1st in observance of New Years Day. There will be no deliveries or window service. The lobby will be open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for mail deposits. Incoming Special Delivery Mail will be delivered as soon as received. A Sioux City SSA district briefing notes 14.7 percent fewer SSA claims in 1959 compared with 1958, with 6 831 claims cleared through December 31, 1959. Beneficiaries in the 17 county area total 28 756 receiving 1 673 482 dollars monthly. A Sioux City district SSA representative will be in Le Mars Court House on Jan 7 and 21 at 9 a.m. Mrs. Paul Trauffer hosted a Christmas party with luncheon and bridge.

Court Dismisses RCA vs De Ruyter in Radio KLEM Case

In the case Radio Corporation of America versus George De Ruyter doing business as Radio KLEM the court dismissed the suit and assessed court costs to the plaintiff. The original action sought 3126.90 for recorded programs received at 60 dollars monthly. The Iowa Supreme Court affirmed a district decision in Tersh vs Nis A Abrendsen. The case has been appealed.

Frahm Shepherd wedding unites Kathryn Frahm and Thomas Shepherd

In Hanover Kansas on December 27 Miss Kathryn Carleen Frahm and Thomas Allen Shepherd wed at Evangelical United Brethren Church. The ceremony featured organ selections by Bach and others, pastoral rites, Holy Communion, and a velvet gown with white pearl accessories. Attendants included maid of honor Jeanette Frahm and midshipman Robert Shepherd. A reception followed at Zion Lutheran Parish Hall with a four tier cake and gifts. The bride attends Westmar College Le Mars Iowa, where she is a chef leader and student senator. The groom, a Westmar College graduate, is described but the account ends mid-sentence.
