Le Mars Driver Dies in 18 Year Traffic Fatality Record Break
A 1956 Lincoln driven by Charles Burgett of Le Mars failed a curve on highway 75 near Blane Oil Station and collided with a parked truck and a 1952 Chevrolet. Burgett died from a fractured skull about 5:15 p.m. The crash ends Le Mars' 18 year record without a fatality. Burgett, born 1929, was a Phil Groetken Trucking driver, married to Patricia Arends, and survived by his wife, parents, siblings, and extended relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs Nellie Sinkey 72 who died Wednesday were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. Rev Alfred Hannink officiated with burial by Saterlee Funeral Home. Born January 22, 1887 in the Netherlands she came to the United States at 16 and married William Sinkey January 19 1909 at Orange City Iowa. They farmed in Sioux County until retiring in 1945. Survivors: four sons Jake Frank Peter of Ireton and William of Ashton Iowa. three daughters Mrs Sidney Eisma of Ireton Mrs Ted Riepma of Maurice IA and Mrs Clarence Peters of Orange City. a sister in The Netherlands.

Remsen Woman Dies After Christmas Day Suicide Plot
Mrs John Kennedy 39 of Remsen died from a 12 gauge shot gun blast to the head in a Christmas day act after sending her husband a dinner while he was jailed for a dispute. Coroner S H Luken said a wire triggered the gun foot pedal. Survivors include her mother Garold Galbraith and siblings. The sheriff reported prior wrist and throat injuries and that Kennedy was jailed for disorderly conduct after discovering the accident. The body was taken to Fisch funeral home with rosary to be held Tuesday.

Men's Nights Resume With Enrollment Fee This Winter
The "tired" business men night restarts this Wednesday December 30 at 7 30. A two dollar enrollment fee covers lights and janitor services and the gym will stay open Wednesday nights to mid March for volley games for the younger set. Adults in the community district may participate. A veteran participant advises those over 40 to stick to shooting baskets and volleyball. Towels are provided, sport clothes can be left at the gym, and a doctor is usually in attendance.
