A night crash on the Merrill bridge sent Tad Lven and a second driver to St Josephs Mercy hospital. Lven survived a fall into West Branch after a pickup misjudged the bridge lights. A second accident near Hinton left William Bomgaars and his wife injured, with Bomgaars trapped and both treated at St Josephs Mercy hospital.

A family dinner and Christmas party were held Sunday December 20 in St Jean's hall Siouxs Cay lon, featuring Meg S Gertinder Von drak's relatives. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Erinens Vondrak and family, Lloyd Casper and family, Floyd Vondiak and family, Harold Vondiak and family, Donald Vondiak and son, Fl don Vondiak, James Macy and Paul Niles families, Gilbert Vondrak and Phil Vondrak, all of Sioux City and surrounding areas, plus Pfc and Mrs Richard Clarey of Ft Hood, Texas, Mrs Edna Muir, Marie Pauly, and Isabelle Walker. Vondrak is noted as mother of 21 children with 26 grandchildren. one daughter Evelyn and Clark Hansen family were not present in Penngrove, California. Bir Vondrak died June 7, 1945. the family moved from Perry township to Signa City in spring 1953 after selling the farm.
Miss Connie Ladgren of Sioux City will start January 1 1954 as County Extension Home Economist in Plymouth County. Director Atle Pierson says she will join the Le Mars staff, focus on the girl 4 H program and rural women. She studied at Morningside College and Iowa State College and was a Girl Scouts member in Sioux City.

Globe Post staffer notes Sunday visit to the county home where Girl Scouts performed a program that inmates enjoyed. A transplanted Scout from Cheokee reportedly hadn’t smiled in a year until a Christmas package from the Scouts elicited a broad grin. In the tower, carolers from Christ Lutheran Church in Grant township sang Christmas songs including O Tannenbaum, as an old friend of the community joined in.
The $112,000 damage suit against Milo Price was given to the jury before 11 oclock this morning as the Globe-Post went to press. If a verdict is returned this afternoon, the full story will appear in the other section of today’s paper.

A fire reported shortly before noon Tuesday at the Martin Rosburg farm about 32 miles southwest of Merlon. Akron fire crews arrived quickly and contained the blaze, with severe kitchen damage. Investigators believe the fire started in the basement due to a furnace in the house.

J Earl Paisley Keltes died at Stoun City hospital after months of illness. He was aged 62 and survived by his widow and four sons John Thomas Robert James and another son, plus four daughters Susan and three others at home. A sister and a brother also survived. Funeral services were held at 2:08 PM Wednesday at the First Methodist Church.

Gerald Schwarz 1 percent son of Mr and Mrs Frank Schwarz of Granville was crushed beneath a car on December 26 while working on a 1941 Ford at the Slage lumber yard near New Springs. Ralph Schwarz left briefly. on return at 3:34 pm Gerald was dead. Coroner Vander Ploeg and Dr. Becker attended. Funeral services set for St Josephs parish with burial in St Josephs cemetery. Gerald, born June 23 1934 in Granville, is survived by parents, brothers Frank Jr Donald and Richard, sister Dora, grandmother Mrs Walburg Schwarz, and pallbearers listed.
