New 1957 NYO Officers Named by Plymouth County Group

About 25 farmers attended the December 19 1956 meeting at the courthouse for the Plymouth county N F Q. Herman Freking was elected president for 1957 with Ralph Marks of Le Mars as vice president and Alex Stoffel of Ovens as secretary-treasurer. Riediger Wayne Weber and Sieben Siebens were outgoing officers. Next meeting time will be announced by Freking.

Mrs. Robert Smith Rites Pending in Le Mars

Mrs. Robert Smith of 10 Central Ave 5 S W died after a five day hospitalization at Sacred Heart Le Mars following an appendectomy. Born Rose Ruchle in Peoria Illinois 77 years ago she married Robert Smith there and lived in Le Mars for years. Survivors include husband and many children in Iowa California and Maryland. Funeral arrangements awaiting at Mauer funeral home. Also noted is election of Rev Robert Vinson Gildner as president of the Le Mars Ministerial Association for 1957 with officers Rev Martin Whitmer and Rev Alvern Kinrade.

Henry Varenhorst dies after long illness at Sacred Heart

Henry Varenhorst a lifelong Plymouth county resident died at Sacred Heart hospital after a period of ill health. Born February 27 1885 in Germany he came to the United States in 1890 and farmed in the county before retiring to Le Mars in March. He married Aldina Ludwig in 1910 who died in 1920 and then Elsie Beckey in 1924. Survived by his widow six sons Erwin Ja Harry and others in Iowa and Nebraska, a daughter Mrs Robert Jursen of Sioux City and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 130 am at the Wilrgen Luedike funeral home and 2 pm at St Pauls Lutheran church Johnson township with Rev E S Senst officiating. Burial in Lutheran cemetery.

Wood Tucker 50th Anniversary Celebrated in Akton
