Families Move In And Army Pvt Kalas Service Update
Mr and Mrs Gordon Mennen and family move into their brick home on South Central Avenue. Mr and Mrs Howard Wells and two children return to Aurora Illinois after visiting Mr and Mrs Roy Chenhall. Army Pvt Harry N Kalas age 23 son of Mrs and Mrs Harry H Kalas Le Mars Iowa completed eight weeks of advanced individual heavy weapons training at Fort Riley Kansas December 12. Kalas joined the Army last July and had basic at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. He is a 1954 Naperville High School graduate and a 1959 State University of Town graduate and a Phi Delta Theta member.

Two Trucks Collide West of Le Mars injures juvenile
A two truck crash about 12 miles west of Le Mars around 2 38 pm Saturday, reported by highway patrolmen Lyle Pell and Richard Helmers. Wilbur Devon, 19, of Orange City, drove a gravel truck north on a county road. James Netley, 12, turned onto the road after entering from the east in a 1936 Chevrolet pickup. Charges of allowing an unauthorized person to drive were filed.

Mayors court case and highway accident report
Filed in Le Mars mayor's court against Arthur Netley and his son for operating a vehicle without a license. A gravel truck rear ended a pickup, both vehicles crashed through a railing, tumbled into a gully, and were destroyed. The gravel driver was hospitalized first at Akron, then Sioux City with a dislocated hip. Damages cited: $600 to the truck and over $1,200 to the pickup. Later, a teacher observed the driver appeared under the influence, and x-rays were planned at Sacred Heart hospital.

Sioux City Crime Report: Teens Jailed After Larceny Plea
Two Sioux City youths, Tom LaCraiz age 19 and a 15 year old friend, pleaded guilty to petty larceny. Each fined 100 dollars with 50 dollars suspended, but unable to pay. They face at least 15 days in jail after being caught stealing passes near Merrill by Sheriff Von Terseh. Surgery by a Sioux City brain specialist Mrs. Isackson noted with her son today as Mayor Long visits his children.

Youths Escape, Abandon Car. Vikings Club Meeting Recap
The youths fled on foot abandoning a car registered to an older boy from Sioux City. They were summoned to appear in Merrill and brought to Le Murs. Union Vikings 4-H Club held its monthly meeting on December 10 with 25 members answering roll call on projects. Old business included planning a skating party on January 2.
