Freak Accident Injures Mrs Ella Hauck in Le Mars Town

Mrs Ella Hauck and son Adolph were in a Cadillac when it struck a crippled steer on the Remsen road. The collision damaged the car front and caused a blowout but the car did not overturn. Mrs Hauck suffered bruises and shock and was cared for in Remsen before returning home to Le Mars. The steer and other cattle had fallen from a truck owned by Joe Hoffman of Oyens.

Plymouth County Juvenile Inquiry Involving Larry Landgraf Case

Plymouth county juvenile authorities may handle the case of 16 year old Larry Landgraf of Le Mars after Sioux City police found him driving a stolen car. The vehicle, taken from Harley Stockburger of Spirit Lake, was parked on a Hin ton street. A Sioux City girl, 5, was also involved but misidentified as from Le Mars by some papers. sheriff Frank Scholer confirmed she is from Sioux City. Landgraf, on parole for under a year, had previously admitted stealing money and a girl’s clothes in a prior escapade and may serve out his time.

Gas Station Break-In at Remsen Reported

Burglars broke into Hilltop Service station in Remsen between Saturday night and Sunday, stealing about 8 dollars in change and several packs of Pall Mall and Lucky Strike cigarettes. A General Electric TV in a marginal plastic case was taken, with the loud speaker removed for use elsewhere. Sheriff Scholer indicated the theft appeared amateurish and urged vigilance for youths seen with the TV set or smoking Pall Mall cigarettes.

Albert W Bartels aged 84 died at home after a brief illness. He was born December 6 1869 in Hamburg Germany and came to the United States at age 22, settling in West Side. He farmed in Crawford county, married Anna Hepp, lived near Danbury for about 10 years, then moved to Mapleton and later to Hinton in 1947. He was a member of Tram Lutheran church near Hinton. Survived by a son Walter of Banki and two sisters Mrs Bertha Vandurh and Mrs John Tall of Mapleton, with six grandchildren.
