The piece criticizes a fringe daily for promising 20 percent cheaper rates than papers that publish twice weekly. It recalls Le Mars once having a so called daily at 106 percent less value yet free for hundreds on a dubious subscription list. It argues true daily news requires local, regional, and wire service coverage, which small papers lack unless they pay for access like KLEM radio with AP wire.
