Young Mother Rescues Baby From Burning Car in Fog

In heavy pea soup fog early Sunday a collision on a highway near Council Bluffs left the Loving car wrecked and burning. A young mother, C. L. Loving's wife Gene Loving, and two others survived with serious injuries as bystanders freed a 13 month old infant trapped by the wreckage. Two soldiers in another vehicle were hospitalized in critical condition. The driver Leo L. Buck Loving and others were from Nevada Missouri, and a new radio station project in Le Mars was noted.

Merrill bridge incident leaves Jim Ludwig injured

Jim Ludwig of Remsen sustained chest bruises and a split lip after a mid bridge collision near Merrill. He was treated at Secret Heart hospital with no serious injuries. The highway department added warning signals at the bridge while state trooper Dick Lunyens investigated. A Continental Baking Co Wonder Bread truck driven by Robert J. Jasman of Sioux City slowed to clear the crossing. Ludwig could not slow in time and struck the rear of the truck.

Langendorfer death notice in Le Mars community

Mrs Langendorfer 43 of 229 Grandview boulevard died at Luxury hospital after brief illness. Born September 1 1878 at Troer fa she moved to Le Mars in 1693 and was educated there. Married to Charles Langendorfer December 21 1920 at Le Mars. Resident of Swolly City since 1943. Funeral at Fiat Methodist church with Rev Charles E Mason officiating. Burial at Le Mary. Survivors include four sons Lowell Wendell Lloyd and Foster, sister Mrs L C LaFleur, 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Insurance trainee Kramer completes second year in LUTC courses

Leonard C. Kramer of Le Mars Iowa has finished his second year of Life Underwriters Training Council courses. He is district agent for Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Company based in Waverly Iowa. The program expands his sales and service capabilities for prospects and policyholders and is part of a national effort involving over 25 000 underwriters. Accident injures Hentges son near Le Mars road crash

Earl Hentges driver of a 190 Buick rear ended by a hole in the road near the Le Mars airport. He and his parents Mr and Mrs Mike Hentges reported bruises and minor injuries and were treated at a hospital after the Sunday afternoon crash at 4 30 p m. The car was a total loss valued at 950 dollars.

Ordination of Raphael Wersinger at St Marys Cathedral

Raphael Wersinger, son of Mr and Mrs Jos D Wersinger, was ordained a Catholic priest on Monday August 16 1994 at St Marys Cathedral in Kemsa in a cathedral ceremony unusual for its private parish attendance. Mrs Dirks Dies at Verdi Minn After Long Illness

Mrs Dick Dirks of Verdi Minnesota died on Friday August 6 at the hospital in Taller Minnesota. Funeral services held Tuesday at 2 PM at St Pauls Lutheran church Pipestone with Rev JG Stemmeyer in charge. Burial in Lake Benton cemetery pallbearers named. She was born April 28 1884 in Sioux County Iowa and married in 1903 to Dik Uo Dirks. The couple farmed in Union and Chat counties before moving to Verdi in 1916. She was 52 years 3 months 9 days old. She leaves numerous children and grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs Ethel Schindel of Hinton, 78, died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services set for Tuesday at 2 pm at the Heaton Westcott Funeral Chapel in Sioux City with Rex Donwht Harbour officiating. Burial in Graceland Park Cemetery. She was born February 27, 1876 at Lincoln, moved to Hinton in 1888, graduated from Stout City High School, married Henry Schindel in 1899 at Elinton. She was a Methodist church member in Hinton. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs Char Schnenler. two sisters, Mrs Roy Bogenrich. and Mr Willam Weinrich, plus four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
