Army unit to Camp Ripley in Minnesota for training

The 2nd Battalion of the 133rd Infantry, Iowa Army National Guard, Co A leaves Le Mars for Camp Ripley Minnesota at 7 38 a m. The move includes trucks and jeeps with supply and mess personnel first to depart. Training at Camp Ripley covers assault and defense tactics with weapons firings through platoon level. Family contact through Red Cross. List of personnel includes officers and many enlisted members with ranks and names.

Binocular test leads to Kidwell arrest in Sioux City

Detective sergeants tested a pair of binoculars on Fourth Street and halted a car carrying John J. Kidwell 37 of Le Mars, wanted on worthless check charges in Remsen Merrill and Le Mars areas. Kidwell, known locally and with prior bad check time in 1955, was returned to Le Mars by Plymouth County authorities. Dr Ronald Severson and family returned from a 10 day vacation in Colorado Springs and Estes Park visiting relatives in Denver.

Kingsley Women Injured in Highway Incident

Kingsley women Mrs Woman Marsh and Haget, both of Kingsley, were injured Wednesday near Kingsley on Highway 20 east of Stuy City when their ride ran under the back end of a track. They were taken to St Joseph’s Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Wisconsin man pleads guilty to intoxicated driving

Harry Elwood Decker, 53, of Wis copsin, was arrested Tuesday near Le Mars by a highway patrolman and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He appeared in district court Wednesday before Judge R. G. Rodman, pled guilty, and was fined $300 with a 60 day driving privileges suspension.
