Deegan Child Suffers Skull Fracture In Farmyard Accident

Maureen Ann Deegan, 214 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs John F Deegan of Struble, fell from a horse when a tractor spooked it. She was unconscious at first but later found to have a slight skull fracture and remains at home under care.

Pool To Be Opened This Summer In Le Mars

Mrs. Joel Shepherd announced after an executive council meeting that the Red Cross will supervise swimming instruction at the Le Mars New Deal pool this summer. A four room modern house owned by George RK Morten at 421 Sth Ave SE sold at public auction on Friday April 24. The high bidder was Tony VanHoff with a bid of $2100. Richards and Ruden acted as auctioneers.

Accident Near Merri City Involving 1948 Hudson

At about 3 am on April 24 Donald Thoms of The Mars drove a 1948 Hudson off Highway 75 north of Merri and struck a telephone pole, causing $50 damage to the right front fender. Police report suggest driver slept at the wheel. he was uninjured. The Kingsley paper previously reported W. W. Wormley’s forthcoming marriage to Marjorie Anstine of Kingsley.

Fire twice at dump area sparks grass on Kurtzhals land

Mars fire department responded to a blaze in the city dump area where sparks set dry grass on a field owned by Albert Kurtzhals. About three or four acres burned, according to Merle Nessius. Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour. Earlier this spring a similar fire occurred when sparks from the dump buried the same field.

Neary list of minor traffic penalties from state cases heard in the mayor's court over recent days includes speeding in restricted zones stop sign violations and intoxication with fines ranging from 7.50 to 29.00. Garber Named Coach of the Year for Siouxland Work

Garber of Gehlen High School has been selected as Coach of the Year for 19SK by Very Rev Mage. Joseph E. Taohin. The Siouxland Conference champion Gehlen football, basketball, and baseball programs are highlighted, with Garber praised for building a strong athletic program since 1952 and for his prior coaching success at Manilla and Westmar College. The Globe-Post will distribute a roto gravure magazine named Rural Gravure to about 6 000 subscribers in Plymouth County monthly. First edition due May 15, with distribution in June.
