Fisch Fined 300 For Funeral Contempt in Le Mars

Joseph V. Fisch, a Remsen funeral home owner, was found in contempt for violating an injunction forbidding a funeral at a home he bought here last year. Judge Rodman fined Fisch 300 dollars plus costs, citing mitigating circumstances and pending Supreme Court review. The case centers on a home at Sixth Ave and Plymouth St opposite St. Joseph's Church where two funerals were held, including one for Fisch's part time assistant's relative.

Wells Truck Used For A Joy Ride

A Wells Blue Bunny flatbed truck disappeared for two days then was found Friday near Oyeny after missing Wednesday. Fay Wells said the 101 damaged truck was driven off for a joy ride by an unknown person while one driver assumed the other had it.

Wiltgen Buys Rock Crushers in Diversification Move

Wiltgen, owner of Wiltgen-Ready Mix, bought two rock crushing machines, a conveyor and three diesel power units from Iowa Concrete Breaking Co in Des Moines for 24000. The Des Moines firm contracts with large firms to crush old concrete for new road and airport projects. Wiltgen shifts from sub contractor role as a partner withdraws, with current equipment kept at Hartley, Iowa while he plans broader crushing operations including possible mountain quarry work.

Le Mars and Sioux City Test Warns of Atomic Attack

About 35 000 Sioux Cityans were simulated as wiped out by an atom bomb over the city hall during a civil defense test. Five radiological teams checked the area and found a fragment near Grandview park. Le Mars radio station KLEM went off air for an hour as the test noted signals would require a Conelrad switch to continue.

Window Cleaning Promoters Plan Midweek Activities

A meeting of the Clean-Up Paint-Up Fix-Up committee was held at the Club Cafe on Friday afternoon. Co-Chairmen Bob Walsh and Jack Hoffmann presided as members discussed tasks for the week including sweeping Central Avenue and washing windows by local business men. The group decided to carry out the window washing on Wednesday afternoon.

Acreage Sold North of Smux City in Public Auction

The 40 acre tract ten miles north of Smux City on Broken Kettle Road or eleven miles west and two miles south of Merrill, owned by Myrtle B. Harswill, was sold at public auction Sunday despite bad weather. Auctioneers Richards, Ruden, and George Pavith led the sale, with Vo McNaughton of the Westfield area buying the property for $6500.

Nick Kamp and his wife Josie Ruppert will observe their 25th anniversary on Sunday April 26 1959 with an open house from 2 to 5 pm at 301 Plymouth Street N. B. No invitations were sent. Police Court Fined in City Case in Mayors Court

Ken Wagner of Sioux City paid a $15 fine in Mayors Court for failure to stop after a car collision. The proceedings were held in a police court setting and reflected a minor traffic offense adjudicated by city officials.

Accident Brings Two Fines Near Le Mars

A 10:57 a.m. crash near the city dump west of Le Mars involved a 1944 Chevrolet truck driven by Richard LeRoy Lang and a 1950 Mercury driven by Lee Henrich. Mrs. Henrich was bruised but not seriously hurt. both vehicles were damaged. Lang paid $10 for driving without a chauffeur license. Henrich received $30 in fines for failure to control and speeding in a 45 mph zone. Relatives visited at Storm Lake hospital.

Measles Victim Brian Nudunk Funeral Held

Funeral services were held Friday at the First Reformed Church for Brian Juring Nudunk three year old son of Mr and Mrs Henry G Nudunk of Orange City. He died after a recent illness from measles born April 19 1956 survivors include four brothers Gary Roger Donley and Glen a sister Rachel and four grandparents Gerrit Huttink and Jacob Colman of Orange City and others.
