Four lane highway in Iowa advances with approval
The Iowa Highway Commission approved a Merrill to Le Mars four lane road as the third in a planned four lane stretch. The project targets daily traffic of 4000 vehicles or more, with Des Moines county near Burlington and a Sioux City to Merrill segment already in place. In Remsen, Westmar College foreign students Miss Masako Shibata and Miss Ruth Plath spoke at the Plymouth County Women’s Club Convention on April 11. Westmar hosts ten foreign students this semester from Germany, Japan, Jordan, Korea and Puerto Rico. Fort Knox, Pvt. Donald W. Kasner, son of Kingsley residents, recently completed a vehicle mechanics course at the Army’s Armor School. Kasner enlisted in 1955 and served at Fort Hood after training at Fort Chaffee. He is a 1951 Kingsley high school grad and was a civilian farmer. Two teens from north-law area were injured in a high speed chase, their 1932 Oldsmobile wrecked after veering into a ditch and creek.
