Five youths face court over mischief at Wells Blue Bunny sign

Five college students appeared in mayor's court Monday night to answer malicious mischief charges filed last week by Sgt. Joe Sutton. The case was continued as they admitted removing a large three dimensional cow head from the Wells Blue Bunny sign at the dairy's highway 75 site last March.

Fall Injures Woman Prompting Outpatient Visit

Mrs Mary Wilhelmi of 28 Cent Ave NE was treated as an outpatient at Sacred Heart hospital after a fall in her apartment above a J C Penney store. She suffered a fractured left wrist and a facial gash needing stitches from a chair mishap during house cleaning. Mr and Mrs William Wilken of Sioux Falls visited last Thursday at the Laughton home.

Union-Maron Farm Bureau women tour Iowa Great Lakes

Nine Union-Maron township Farm Bureau women toured the Iowa Great Lakes area last Wednesday. On arrival coffee and cookies were served at Mrs. Henry Dempster’s lakeshore estate. They met former resident Mrs. Bessie Parks and toured Spirit Lake state fish hatchery, had lunch at Red Rooster cafe, visited the Gardner cottage and Indian massacre monument in Arnolds Park, then enjoyed a scenic drive around West Okoboji.

Fourteen Remsen youths enlist in Army training

Fourteen National Guard recruits left Le Mars by train for six months of active duty at Fort Jackson South Carolina. The group, among the first in the state under Operation Buddy, will stay together through basic training and complete service with Le Mars Co A after returning home. Most are high school graduates, with ceremonies in Remsen sending 11 diplomas Sunday.

Spotlight on Plymouth county 353 graduates in special section

The Daily Sentinel features Plymouth county eight high schools in a fifth annual souvenir section. A total of 353 graduates, up 15 from 1992's 338, with some schools showing declines. Le Mars and Remsen St. Marys had drops, while Akron led increases with nine and Kingsley Pierson with eight. Commencement in Le Mars occurs this week, others concluded last week.

Two Iowa motorists fined in city court

Charles D. Manes of Sioux City paid a $14 speeding fine in a restricted zone after charges filed by Patrolman Kelly. Stanley E. Wilmes of Le Mars was fined $14 for no operator's license, charged by Patrolman Kelly. Eighteen drivers paid $1 fines for overtime parking in the business district from May 22 to 28. Paullina woman killed in auto crash near James

Gale Vivian Bainbridge 39 Paullina co publisher of two horse magazines died Tuesday morning when her car left the highway and struck a ditch south of James on highway 75. Doctors attributed her death to a spinal cord injury from a fractured neck. Bainbridge left behind two sons Terry 16 and Bar 14 who rode in another car with a friend Dennis Appeldorn. Her husband who was traveling on business by plane learned of the tragedy. The couple published Burse Mens Adviser and The Hackney Journal. The body was to be sent to Gaudian funeral home Paullina.

Gund Memorial library planned at Marcus

Marcus council approved preliminary design for the W L Gund Memorial Library funded by the Gund estate. Germanson Foss & Co of Sioux City drew the plan for a stone brick cement and steel building at Spruce and Locust with a center desk youth and adult reading rooms and a children’s reading and meeting room.
