St Clair's reports a very successful grand opening with over 100 dozen Cougnuts served and gallons of coffee. Winners from Le Mars listed for over $500 in merchandise prizes, including Henry G. Funeral services for Mrs Clara L Hazel 63 who died unexpectedly at her home Sunday will be held at 9 am Wednesday at St Joseph Catholic church Le Mars. Born July 16 1899 at Ovens she married Joseph Hazel September 26 1916 and came to Le Mars in 192. Survivors include her husband two sons Roman of Sioux City Francis of Le Mars five grandchildren four brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by parents and two siblings. Rosary at 8 pm Tuesday at Wiltgen Luedtke funeral home and viewing after 2 pm Tuesday.

March Weather Brings Thundershowers and Snow Fears
Weather dominated the week with thundershowers near Le Mars as dark clouds rolled in from the west. A tornado-like Twister touched down near Earl Buss farm, while rain fell Saturday afternoon. Forecasters warned of blizzard conditions by evening and snow turning to sleet and rain by Monday as colder air moved in.

A tornado struck the Earl Buss farm near Le Mars in Elgin township at noon Saturday, damaging four outbuildings, a car, a corn picker, a combine, and homes. A smoke house and garage were blown into a tree line, and a house window and porch were damaged. Neighbors saw the funnel cloud, and Myrna Utech’s farm nearby also suffered wind damage. Insurance will cover losses.
