Unoccupied Trailer Burns in Le Mars Yard Blaze

A trailer at 427 Gth Ave SE, owned by Alvin Schulz, burned after an overheated oil heater caused extensive damage. Firefighters arrived at 10:20 pm Monday, flames from the side and a wall hole near the heater were reported. Schulz had been preparing to sell the unit and did not live there with his family, who stay with Schulz’s parents nearby. Several residents were hospitalized or discharged after the incident and the area experienced ongoing trailer-fire activity this winter. Snowy conditions and cold temps followed, with forecasts calling for warming through midweek.

Conservation Needs Inventory Published in Plymouth County

Plymouth county Soil Conservation district commissioners Don Litzmann, Tom Kenny, and Harold E. Johnson completed publication of the Plymouth County Soil Conservation Needs Inventory. About 4,000 copies were printed and distributed to banks, county offices, and schools. The inventory outlines current land use, projected 1975 goals, conservation practices, and land classes with both present use and 1975 outlook.

Traffic court notes fined and dismissed cases

William Gayle of Omaha paid a $9 fine in mayor's court last Friday for a stop sign violation filed February 25 by Patrolman Arlyn Terpenning. A traffic case against Michael J. Lovely of Le Mars was dismissed in mayor's court. A charge of no control of vehicle was filed November 3 by the highway patrol.
