Wasmer Post to Give Shoes to 10 Le Mars Families
Bob Greear, commander of Wasmer post 241 of the American Legion, announced that Christmas letters were mailed last Friday to 10 Le Mars families for a total of 37 pairs of shoes, a free gift from Wasmer post American Legion, to local needy children. Earlier the season, an announcement said the free shoe gift would not be given this year due to attorney general Turner’s rulings against bingo and other games of chance. Adjutant Albert Thorpe said plans are underway for a mid January couples party for past members in the club building.

Marcus native husband killed in light plane crash near Clyde
Marcus native and her husband Ver non Brighat of Clydle Kansas died in a light plane crash near Clyde on Tuesday night as they were returning from buying a Cadillac. Brighat, a licensed pilot and wheat farmer, owned the plane and was attempting a highway landing after icing and power loss. Surviving Brighat family includes three sons Joey 22 Sonny 20 Scottie 8 and several extended relatives. Mrs Brighat, Marge 45, is the daughter of Mrs Tom Carney of Marcus and had siblings and six brothers.
