Memorial Day exercises were held with a larger, more elaborate program this year. Six local veterans answered the 1911 roll call: E. Gaunt, D. W. Beechout, Henry Switzer, T. P. Frost, G. H. Carter, and J. H. Thurston. The procession moved from the high school to the Christian church for addresses by Hon. G. A. Mote and Rev. Josiah Paxson, then decorated graves at Pleasant Hill and Friends cemeteries. Weather was favorable and the observance held strong patriotic tone.
College news lists a six day schedule of events from Friday June 2 to Tuesday June 6 including student recital, a lecture by L S Coffin of Ft Dodge, Baccalaureate Sermon by Rev L E Follansbee Des Moines, annual contest, commencement exercises with program details and diplomas. An annual concert at Palmer College Gymnasium is noted for Monday evening June 5 with solos duets and a 20-voice chorus. LeGrand led until the fifth inning, but local Montour surged to win 6 to 5. A rematch Tuesday in Montour ended 6 to 2 for Montour. Also covered a lively Memorial Day reminder, a bat breaking match between first team and high school players ending 13 to 11, plus home improvements on South Hamilton Street by Flora Pyle and local builders Moore and Hoover.
An Iowa Transcontinents inspection car passed through LeGrand on Thursday evening during a journey along the Transcontinental highway from Council Bluffs to Clinton. A Denison group including editor Myers spoke on state road mapping and forming a Iowa tour route association with a $2 membership to fund the main tourist route.
O W Josox urges the Reporter to provide an authorized interview from Moab to correct errors in last week's story. He promises an accurate, engaging account regardless of the compass direction, and hopes to end reliance on wire tapping.

The Literary and Musical Club held its final meeting of the year on Wednesday May 31 at Mrs A A Richards home. Officers for the coming year were elected including President Mrs Rosa Richards Vice President Mrs Maude Gaunt Secretary Mrs Cora Bowman Treasurer Mrs Della Keon and Critic Mrs May Evang.
