The Chicago and Northwestern Railway will relocate its auditing department to Belle Plaine on May 20. The unit will consist of seven or eight men and occupy rooms above the baggage and express rooms now used by Train Master Hanson.

Al Fred Shedden was arrested after breaking down the door to his wife’s room and entering with a revolver in hand. Mrs. Shadden left him in January and was living with her mother, Mrs. Allen Stoker.
John Macentum 19 the son of a prominent farmer killed himself. His mother heard a commotion among the hogs in the bog lot and found the animals eating her son's face upon investigation. No cause is known.
A Mexican immigrant, who cannot speak English well enough to name himself, employed by the Rock Island railway, was quarantined for virulent smallpox in a box car he shares with his family. The incident highlights frontier health controls and immigrant labor conditions in Newton.

Fort Dodge man Phillip Ternes has been appointed traveling freight agent of the Great Western with headquarters in this city. He succeeds A. C. Hine, who resigned.
Interurban Company of Des Moines plans to buy the Fort Dodge Des Moines and Southern line between Colfax and Newton Iowa to connect Des Moines with Jasper county seats by an electric line. A Boston receiver stated the road may be extended by leasing the Newton and Northwestern segment, offering $15 000 yearly for the life of the road at 6 percent on a $28300 valuation.
Governor B F Carroll to give welcome address to delegates at the twenty ninth annual Iowa Funeral Directors association convention opening at the Coliseum this morning.
