Miss Nettie Hammond died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon casting gloom over LeGrand. Though ill for months she had shown progress and was believed to be improving. Funeral services are set for Saturday at Friends church at 2 o clock. full obituary to follow next week.
A Marshalltown letter from H. J. Bows of the Marshall Telephone Co outlines three options for 1910 service. Proposals include continuing current service with lease options, 5 cent per connection access within Marshalltown, and a LeGrand to Marshalltown line with 10 cent per connection plus 95 percent of fees to the user.
The Marshalltown Y M C A defeated Palmer College 42 to 33 after a rough, foul filled game. Scoring swung with Herschel's late bucket sealing the win as Palmer led at halftime 16 to 13.

Local activity covers school absences, visitors, and community notices including coal delivery, car trips, and market sales with hog purchases at eight cents per pound.
