Kenry W Shelton and party arrive New Lisbon Ohio after a 14 day trek stopping at the county infirmary. A grand reception includes a dinner supper and rakfust, with host hospitality. The traveler plans an 7 p.m. exhibition walk and a write up for the paper before heading to New York to beat a record.
Local residents and visitors populate LeGrand and surrounding towns with reports of Sunday calls and weekend visits. Names include Howard, Bowen, Moore, McCarel, Shelton, McNair, Weitzell, Hackett, Helfinstine, Davidson, Narber, Richards, Brook, Bigelow, Hayes, and many more with towns such as Lamoille Marshalltown Montour Baxter Orient Colfax Urbana Newton and Derby. A Lost Man's Panama hat is offered for a reward and several chautauqua programs are noted along with a road work update and a cautious accident report.
LeGrand chautauqua opened with two grand afternoon concerts by the One- tian band of New In the afternoon the band played sev eral numbers to enthusiastic response. Evening programs featured the brass quartet, animal acts, and readings by Miss Nanah Rense. Dr H V Adams lectured on Grapes of Gold. Sunday showcased Marshalltown day with Ex Gov Buechtel and Josephine Dominick Concert Company offering readings and music. Community day included Mason's Jubilee Singers and the Bake Dat Chicken Pie skit. The Hugh Anderson Operatic company presented Martha act two and other selections before concluding on another page.
Our Churches Sunday School meets at 10 o'clock followed by a preaching service at 11 a m. A solo by Mr J A Elwell will precede singing of Calvary There are no evening services as all attend the Gospel Team meeting Junior C E Sunday at 11 a m Supt Miss Eunice Arnold Intermediate Endeavor Sunday 5 p m Miss Reba Ferguson Senior Endeavor Sunday at 7 Praise meeting Wednesday evening All are invited to participate in these services
The Christian Church lists 9 45 a m Sunday School under Supe J W Piper with 11 o clock sermon by Rev Roy C Helfenstein. A baptism is set for 2 30 p m at the A A Moore place followed by an invitation to all friends to participate. 4 00 p m Junior Hour 7 00 Christian Endeavor led by Chalice Riginbotham Mid week prayer meeting Wednesday evening all invited to attend.
Mr Theo Rusley will preach in English at Dunbar Lutheran Ghureh next Sunday evening. He will start the paro shial school at Elim church on Thursday morning August 3. Parents should enroll children at the beginning of the four week term. Rev Incvonpsrap.
Carlton Srathren Church announces Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. Preaching at 11:00 a.m. Christian Endeavor at 7:00 p.m. Evening services scheduled for the evening. Reverend 5 C Henderson serves as pastor.
