Cartwright Wins Democratic Nomination For Oklahoma Corp. Commission
Corporation Commissioner Jan Eric Cartwright, 38, defeated Wilbur Wright in the Democratic primary by about 3 to 1 across 77 counties, securing 205,149 votes to 70,911. Cartwright, appointed last January by Gov. David Boren, faces Republican Ron Shotts in November for a six year term on the three member commission regulating utilities. Wright, a veteran candidate, has a history of statewide bids, while Shotts notes the rural strength of Langston in shaping the race.
