Poison Cyanide Spill Threat Fears End Thamesville Ontario
Thamesville residents breathed easier as 25 000 pounds of cyanide dust and pellets from a truck train crash were cleared. Workers hauled debris to a disposal ditch two miles away and planned transfer to Niagara Falls New York for processing. A 10 000 pound sodium cyanide spray neutralized remaining dangers, while 155 drums of sodium cyanide and 34 of copper cyanide were aboard the truck. No fumes were detected but skin burns and internal danger were noted from flakes and dust.
