Congress Overrides Nixon Veto On Water Pollution Bill
Both Houses voted decisively to override President Nixon's veto on a 24.6 billion three year water pollution control bill. The action follows Senate and House margins well above two thirds and targets pollution clean up by 1985 through stricter industrial discharge limits and municipal waste plants. Nixon warned the veto would raise taxes as Congress eyed a spending ceiling and political campaign moves. See BOTH, Page 4A, Col. 5.
