A new flag was raised at the Comanche County Court house in observance of Veterans Day. Delay May Hinder Huge Military Pay Raise
A 2.4 billion military pay raise, the largest in history, could be delayed from taking effect Sunday unless the President's Pay Board exempts the armed forces from the wage freeze. The package, approved by Congress and signed Sept. 2, would raise pay and benefits about 15 percent for 2.6 million service members, with recruits' base pay nearly doubling from 1612 to 3222 dollars annually. The Pay Board says increases are generally 5.5 percent per year, and a ruling favoring the raise is expected but not guaranteed before the wage freeze ends. The Defense Department says it is prepared to begin paying next week.
